Gust of Sun Winery, Ransomville, NY

This newly renovated tasting room at Gust of Sun Winery has been designed to seat guests in a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The floor plan was a bit challenging because the space needed to accommodate different activities such as conferences, small weddings, and a lounge. Shane and Erik Gustafson, owners of Gust of Sun Winery, wanted to keep the space bright and open, yet warm and inviting. The solution? To create small groups of furnishings to create intimate conversational areas, use of barrel tables with a hexagon shaped glass top that can be pushed together to create a longer table when needed, and the use of barrel chairs for their small footprint and flexibility. Reds, oranges, and brown colors were used throughout the space to create warmth while splashes of cool blue and white were used to keep the space light and airy.

If you have the opportunity, stop by Gust of Sun Winery and check out their new tasting room and have a glass of their wonderful wine. I would recommend the Three Westies White Wine...it is absolutely divine! ♥

Simple Pillows. Smart Design.

This is a simple, easy breezy way to make designer pillows without a sewing machine and for very little cost.

Placemats! That's right. Fabric placemats make great pillows, all you need to do is find the placemats that have a backing to them. Most department stores carry them and what is even better is that you can buy them individually at a very small cost.

Materials needed:

-seam ripper or scissors
-needle and thread
-placemat
-polyfill stuffing

1. buy your placemats.

Make sure your placements have a backing to them.
2. using your seam ripper or small scissors, cut a small opening at the bottom of the placemat so that you can stuff your pillow.

3. Stuff your pillow and sew the opening closed with your needle and thread. Keep the stitches small so they aren't as noticeable.

Enjoy your new designer pillows. ♥

Fine Design

While I was surfing the nets this morning I came across this lovely design by Kendall Wilkinson Design.

This. Is. Great. Design.

Kendall Wilkinson Design

What initially caught my eye was the stunning piece of artwork set center stage. Its bright yellow set amidst the neutral background makes a bold statement without being overbearing. The clever use of patterns and textures breaks up the rooms neutral palette and most certainly adds to the warmth and coziness of the room. I love all the details of this space.

Window Treatments

Window treatments are statement pieces. They set the mood and impact how we feel in a space. Comfortable, breezy, elegant, formal, unusual...whatever the style, they are an important element to the overall design of a room. Window treatments help to insulate interior rooms from the cold, create privacy, absorb sound, and help to protect fabrics and floors from sun damage.

White sheers set against the bright green walls and green print shade create a breezy and fresh feel to this space.

Round top window? No problem, clever way to dress a window.

Historical or period homes sometimes require something other than an upholstered look. Raised panel shutters are a great way to honor the timeless age of a home.
